A message from our founder Master Bruce Wood

As we begin to take the most tentative steps towards what we all hope will be a return to some sort of “normality”, I thought it was time the hard work, fortitude and inventiveness of our team of instructors was acknowledged

Instructor Update

It is my unfortunate duty to announce the departure of two of our instructors - Mr Danny Collins and Mr Lee Walker, both of whom have decided not to renew their membership of the UK Sooyang Do Association, and that, as a consequence, neither are licenced, insured or permitted to teach Sooyang Do, to represent Sooyang Do, or to use the Sooyang Do name or logo in any way whatsoever.  Both Mr Collins and Mr Walker will continue to enjoy my respect, as well as my gratitude, for their contribution to Sooyang Do and I wish them the best of success in their future endeavours.

Date Grading Type Time
18th September 2021 TAGS 10am

Black Belt Gradings Time

Adult Grading Saturday 18/09/2021

Junior Grading Sunday 19/09/2021

For all gradings, you attend the session based on your current belt level and not the level you are grading too e.g. if you are an adult and currently an orange belt, you would attend at 2.45pm on 18/09/21.

Please ensure you arrive with sufficient time prior to floor commencement to include going through the additional COVID control measures that will be in place (we recommend arrival at Westdyke a minimum of 15 minutes prior to floor commencement).

Please read and take note of the following -

Please do not attend if you have had a positive test or you have developed any of the recognised symptoms of COVID (a new / continuous cough, high temperature or loss of taste / smell).

Entry will be via the side fire door (not the usual entrance point).

Exit will be via the front door.

One spectator per student will be granted access to the facility at anyone time.  A one in / one out system shall also be in place to allow access to more than one individual per student.

On arrival, please line up along the side of the building until invited in.

All students and spectators must wear face coverings (unless exempt) whilst lined up and upon entry to the facility.  Spectators are to keep face coverings on throughout.  Students can remove face coverings prior to the grading floor commencing.

Prior to entry, temperatures will be taken and sanitiser provided for your hands.  All temperatures must be below 37.8c to be granted entry to the facility.

All students are to arrive ready to commence.  There will be no changing rooms in operation.

Upon entry to the hall you will be guided to a seat where student jackets / shoes etc... can be left and any spectator can be seated.  Your equipment / kit bags and drink should be taken to the side of the hall for easy access during the grading without the requirement to cross over into the spectators area.

All equipment should be wiped down / sanitised prior to and following completion of the grading.

We would ask that where possible, lateral flow tests are taken by both students and any intended spectators on the day prior to travelling to the grading.  These are available free of charge from pharmacies.  Where there is any positive result, no-one from the household should attend the grading facility.

If you have any concerns or queries, please discuss with your instructor in the first instance.
