A message from our founder Master Bruce Wood

As we begin to take the most tentative steps towards what we all hope will be a return to some sort of “normality”, I thought it was time the hard work, fortitude and inventiveness of our team of instructors was acknowledged

Instructor Update

It is my unfortunate duty to announce the departure of two of our instructors - Mr Danny Collins and Mr Lee Walker, both of whom have decided not to renew their membership of the UK Sooyang Do Association, and that, as a consequence, neither are licenced, insured or permitted to teach Sooyang Do, to represent Sooyang Do, or to use the Sooyang Do name or logo in any way whatsoever.  Both Mr Collins and Mr Walker will continue to enjoy my respect, as well as my gratitude, for their contribution to Sooyang Do and I wish them the best of success in their future endeavours.

A Message from Master Bruce Wood

A memorable weekend for Sooyang Do Martial Art Founder Master Bruce Wood...........

Coming hot on the heels of my enjoyable whistle-stop tour of Sooyang Do schools throughout the North East of Scotland, I was fortunate enough to attend the truly memorable belt examinations at the Westdyke Centre near Westhill.

The sight of almost 400 students of Sooyang Do, from complete beginners through to 2nd Degree Black Belt, and from 5 years old to over 60 years old, providing such a fantastic exhibition  of our unique martial art, was truly moving and should be a source of great pride for all concerned.

Quite apart from the deserved promotion of so manystudents, I was delighted to be invited to present a number of thoroughly deserved annual awards to those who, by overcoming adversity or showing an extraordinary commitment to their training, had earned their  “Student of the Year” trophies and, in particular, to presenting Mr David Moar with certification to mark his promotion to the rank of Chief Instructor.  Mr Moar is a fine young man as well as an outstanding exponent of Sooyang Do, and I am sure he will continue to be a fantastic asset to the Sooyang Do organisation.

I am already looking forward to the continued growth of Sooyang Do and many exciting developments in 2016 and would like to thank everyone, including students, fellow instructors, trainee instructors, volunteers, parents of younger students and everyone who contributes to our remarkable success, for making my visit so rewarding and worthwhile and  wish everyone the happiest of new years.
