Sooyang Do goes International

Sooyang Do history was made this week as they held their first belt examination outside of the UK ....................

Sooyang Do history was made on Tuesday 28th November, when our first belt examination outside of the UK was held at the dojang of Master Wood in Trie sur Baise, South West France.

Mr Collins travelled to France, at the request of Master Wood, to assess his students and to give feedback from a neutral perspective. Mr Collins was extremely impressed by the technical standard and level of discipline of Master Wood's students and managed to provide his own valuable input, with the benefit of Master Wood as his interpreter.

The French students had been excited and nervous at the prospect of their first grading but coped well with everything Master Wood threw at them and received the benefit of direct instruction and individual coaching from Master Wood, on any issues raised, immediately following the examination.

It is hoped that the French students will be in a position to travel to Scotland, at some time in the not too distant future, to benefit from training under different instructors and participating in the Sooyang Do examinations here and to enjoy our Scottish hospitality.

Our warm congratulations go to all of the French students who were such a credit to and source of pride for Master Wood and thanks to Mr Collins, who travelled to France on Sunday, trained with Master Wood on Monday, assessed the students during their examination on Monday evening and returned to Scotland on Tuesday, giving himself only an hour from arriving at Aberdeen Airport to be at Inverurie for his own classes that evening.
